Stone 'Eye of Horus' AmuletCirca Third Intermediate to Late Period , 1070-332 BC
Description: Wonderful lapis lazuli example of an 'Eye of Horus' (wedjat) amulet of typical form, suspension loop unpierced. According to the Osiris myth, Horus offered the healed eye to his dead father and so powerful a charm was it that it restored him to life. Width: 0.62 in. (1.6 cm) Condition: Beautiful stone with some surface mottling. Intact. Provenance: Private New England collection of an Egyptian lady who emigrated to the US in 1956. Exhibited: Amarillo Art Center, Texas, October 9, 1974-November 3, 1974, as part of group of amulets (#21).
