Seated Harpokrates Holding Amphora Under ArmCirca 2nd Century BC-2nd Century AD
Description: Charming terracotta statuette of a squatting Harpokrates holding an amphora under his left arm. He wears a short-sleeved chiton, sidelock and double crown between two lotus buds. In typical fashion he holds his right forefinger to his lips. Features slightly dulled from original mold. Brown clay with traces of limewash. Height: 5 in. (12.1 cm) Condition: Break to neck repaired. Provenance: The terracotta was formerly a British property acquired in the 1970-80s.
