Oldest Intact Tomb Uncovered in Egypt
Zahi Hawass, promoter extraordinaire for the Egyptian antiquities ministry, has announced the discovery of what is thought to be the oldest intact ancient Egyptian tomb yet discovered, according to wire service reports. The tomb is located in the vicinity of the pyramids at Giza and is thought to belong to Ny-Nsw-Wsert, an administrative overseer of the work force there. Hawass claims the tomb dates to the 4th Dynasty or 2613-2494 BC. Hawass is planning to open the still sealed limestone sarcophagus in September.
