Superb Daunian Bowl

Circa 4th-3rd Century BC

Description:  Very finely potted and painted bichrome Daunian pottery bowl. The center decorated with a series of concentric rings encircled with a floral ring of olive leaves resembling a victory crown. The shoulder is also decorated with a leaf pattern between multiple concentric bands. Two very tiny ancient holes drilled into the very edge of the rim which is typical for these vessels for hanging.  

Diameter: 6.5 in. (16.5 cm)

Condition:  Intact as shown with strongly preserved colors and very insignificant minor wear to the outer rim. Otherwise a real gem.

Provenance:  Formerly in a private California collection.
