Has Alexander the Great's Tomb been Identified?A new book claims that a noted Italian archaeologist may have unraveled the mystery of Alexander the Great's tomb but died before he could publish his theories and findings.Achille Adriani, a brilliant Italian archaeologist spent much of his career pondering the whereabouts of the tomb of one of the greatest military generals of all-time. Adriani, who was head of the Graeco-Roman Museum in Alexandria (a city named after the general who conquered Egypt before advancing into Central Asia), died in 1982 without publishing his work. A former student, Professor Bonacasa, spent the past 20 years reconstructing Adriani's notes and lectures and suggests in his book that the tomb of Alexander is not lost in some sand-covered desert oasis as some have theorized, but located right in the city of Alexandria itself! For more information, including why Adriani believed the tomb was in the Latin cemetary in Alexandria, check out this recent Fox News report on Alexander's Tomb. |
